SALUS members awarded the DGPPN Award for Philosophy and Ethics in Psychiatry and Psychotherapy

Matthé Scholten was awarded the SALUS member awarded the DGPPN Award for Philosophy and Ethics in Psychiatry and Psychotherapy for his article "Equality in the informed consent process: Competence to consent, substitute decision-making, and discrimination of persons with mental disorders," co-authored by Jakov Gather and Jochen Vollmann. Ethics approval for two studies on self-binding directives

We received ethics approval for two studies on self-binding directives (SBDs), one interview study on the experiences with SBDs in The Netherlands and one German focus group study on the ethical opportunities and risks of SBDs. Stay tuned for the results!

The German psychiatry conference

This week, Jakov, Matthé, Astrid and Simone are at the German Association for Psychiatry, Psychotherapy and Psychosomatics (DGPPN) Annual Conference. We will give presentations on psychiatric advance directives, self-binding directives, staff attitudes to coercion, risk assessment in psychiatry, involuntary treatment in forensic psychiatry and more!
